Steve Davis & Dennis Taylor to mark epic 1985 final
29th April 2010
Steve Davis and Dennis Taylor are set to mark the 25th anniversary of their epic 1985 World Championship final with a one-frame contest at the Crucible. Thursday's clash is live on the BBC Red Button and website from 1200 BST.
Northern Ireland's Taylor beat Davis 18-17 on the final black in a classic encounter that kept 18. 5m viewers glued to BBC Two until well after midnight.
Davis will play after his miraculous run at the World Championship ended with a 13-5 defeat by Neil Robertson.
Making his 30th appearance in Sheffield, the six-time champion at the age of 52 stunned the snooker world with defeats over Mark King and defending champion John Higgins.
But he was unable to keep the run going when he was brushed aside by the Australian world number nine at the quarter-final stage.
Davis revealed on Wednesday after the loss that he had spotted Taylor brushing up on his skills on the practice table.
The 61-year-old Taylor retired from the professional circuit in 2000 and is part of the BBC's TV commentary team.
