Manchester Velodrome to host 2011 Track World Cup meet
28th February 2010
Manchester Velodrome has been chosen to host the final round of the 2010-11 Track World Cup Classics series. The event, which takes place between 18-20 February next year, decides qualifying for the following month's World Championships in Holland.
The three previous rounds will take place in Melbourne, Cali and Beijing.
British Cycling spokesperson Jonny Clay said the event would give fans a chance to see "potential British Olympic medallists" ahead of the 2012 Games.
Last November, British riders won 10 gold medals when the Manchester arena hosted a round of the 2009-10 series.
Britain won two golds in the last World Championships, with Victoria Pendleton victorious in the women's sprint, while Elizabeth Armitstead, Wendy Houvenaghel and Joanna Rowsell won the team pursuit.
The next World Championships take place in Ballerup, Denmark, from 24-28 March this year.
