Ice dance win for Emmerdale star
29th March 2010
Former Emmerdale actress Hayley Tamaddon has been crowned the winner of ITV's Dancing on Ice. Three of the original 14 contestants made it through to the final, with actors Gary Lucy and Kieron Richardson making up the finalists.
Tamaddon, 33, had been favourite to win from early on in the series, and during the final she achieved perfect scores for one of her dances.
All the skaters were trained by Olympic gold medallists Torvill and Dean.
Tamaddon, who played Delilah Dingle on Emmerdale until 2007, was partnered with childhood friend Daniel Whiston, who won the first series with actress Gaynor Faye.
'Great time'
"It's been an absolute dream to skate with my best friend and I've loved every minute of it," she said before the result.
Tamaddon and Lucy, 28, both performed their own version of Ravel's Bolero - the routine which brought gold to Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean at the 1984 Winter Olympics.
Following their performances, Torvill said: "Both skated beautifully and it was a privilege to watch both perform. "
After learning of his defeat, Lucy said of Tamaddon: "She was fantastic from the start - sixes across the board - thoroughly deserved and I'm just happy we had such a great time and got this far. "
Hollyoaks actor Richardson was knocked out of the final by the public vote before he could dance to Bolero.
Judges on the show included former champion skaters Robin Cousins, Karen Barber and her former skating partner Nicky Slater, Spice Girl Emma Bunton and choreographer Jason Gardiner.
