Dance around Manchester on a bicycle made for tutu

Dance and cycling might not seem obvious bedfellows, but that is what The Bicycle Ballet will be joining together in July. Local cyclists will join professionals in what organisers say is a celebration of "the dance that is cycling. "
The dance was originally conceived by Karen Poley for Car Free Day in 2006 and has since been performed in Brighton, London and Lille.
Manchester's version is taking place as part of Urban Moves dance festival.
It is being put together by Dance Initiative Greater Manchester (DIGM), who say it will be "reminiscent of Busby Berkeley's stunning synchronized film choreography" and that it "explores the highs and lows of city cycling: the sheer joy of swerving downhill on a bike tempered by the gritty reality of urban cycling. "
DIGM are looking for 80 local volunteers to be part of the dance and say that those wanting to join in don't have to have dance experience.

The final performance is a 30 minute piece which will take place in Castlefield on the final day of Urban Moves.
The three-day festival features live outdoor dance performances, which celebrates the cityscape and architecture of Greater Manchester, from the parks and the fountains to the squares and the gardens.
