19th May 2010

Raid your attic and dig out the family treasures - The Antiques Roadshow is coming to Tatton Park.

The popular BBC One programme is recording a show for its 33rd series at the National Trust property near Knutsford (Thursday 20 May 2010).

People in Greater Manchester and Cheshire are being urged to bring along their family treasures to be valued by some of Britain's leading antiques and fine arts specialists.

The doors open at 9. 30am and close at 4. 30pm. Entry is free.

Intriguing objects

This is presenter Fiona Bruce's third year with the Roadshow.

"Exploring the human story behind every object is what makes Antiques Roadshow so fascinating," she said.

"And everyone loves the agony and ecstasy of the 'what's it worth? moment. "

"The Antiques Roadshow isn't just about antiques - it's history, beauty and drama all wrapped up in one," she said.

The last series, watched by an average of over 6. 5m viewers, included some intriguing objects such as a WWII horse's gas mask and a gallantry medal awarded to a pigeon.

It also had some great stories such as Queen Victoria's bracelet which was found in the street; a collection of 1930s posters bought for 50p in the 1970s and now worth over £30,000 and the first £100,000 plate seen on the Roadshow.

Series Editor Simon Shaw said: "The team are all looking forward to visiting such a splendid venue as Tatton Park.

"It's always exciting to see what will come to light on the day. We regularly see between 1,500 and 2,000 visitors on the day.

Adding: "Despite the high turnout, everyone will get to see an expert. "
