Warrington, Cheshire

Standing on the River Mersey, between Liverpool and Manchester, Warrington was once in Lancashire, but became part of Cheshire following local governement reorganisation and is now the largest town in Cheshire.

Warrington's industrial history centres around steel (particularly wire), textiles, brewing, tanning and chemical industries. It's also famous for Burtonwood RAF base, which was closed in the early 1990s. Today, it's home to Rugby League team, Warrington Wolves

There are many excellent shops and department stores in Warrington, whilst Gulliver's World theme park offers a great day out, as well as both paintball and indoor karting centres.

As far as notable residents are concerned, DJ and TV presenter, Chris Evans was born and raised in Warrington.
